No Seppe Rotty at Roeselare in the last match of the regular competition and in the first two games of the Champion Play-off. The reception corner player of opposite, who was injured with a shoulder, saw from the sidelines how Knack needed a tiebreak three times in a row to beat Aalst and Maaseik. Rotty hopes to be ready to play again on Wednesday evening in Menen.

“A tear in the trapezius or monk's cap muscle of the left shoulder,” Seppe Rotty explains why he has been sidelined for three weeks now. “I am indeed right-handed, so I could serve and attack, but blocking and defending could make the injury worse. So no risks are taken and I have to be patient for the injury to heal completely. I hope that I can be used against my former team Menen, because I am longing for play-off volleyball. This is the period of the season for which you have worked hard to be there as a team and as an individual player. To be injured just now is bad luck. Only on the day of the match will the medical staff and the trainer decide whether I can enter the field without any risk.”

The play-offs are barely two games away and the tone seems to have already been set. Roeselare, Maaseik and Aalst are competing for the two final places, Menen and Haasrode Leuven are fighting for fourth place and Borgworm can at most act as a spoilsport. “A logical but somewhat premature conclusion,” says Rotty. “The top three have indeed already separated themselves somewhat, but avoiding a loss of points against opponents that are on paper inferior will not be easy for Roeselare, Maaseik and Aalst. The upcoming away matches in Menen and Borgworm will be very important for us. Achieving 6 out of 6 is the goal, but we are well aware that it will not be easy. For their own supporters, the underdogs always want to show the best of themselves and have nothing to lose. We expect a motivated Menen in Rekkem on Wednesday. We have to be able to put pressure on them from the first serve and maintain that pressure.”
