Spanish fury Paula Badosa sweeps the floor with top series head at WTA Finals

Spain’s Paula Badosa (WTA 10) won her first group match on Thursday at the WTA Finals in Zapopan, Mexico, a suburb of Guadalajara.

On the first day of play in the Chichen Itza group, she beat Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets, as number two in the world top seed in Mexico, in the absence of Ashleigh Barty: 6-4 and 6-0 after 1 hours and 16 minutes.

For the 23-year-old Badosa, this season laureate at Indian Wells, it was her seventh win in a row. Against Sabalenka, she impressed by winning the last ten games.

In the second group match, Maria Sakkari (WTA 6) in turn easily put aside the Polish Iga Swiatek (WTA 9): 6-2 and 6-4. On the second day of play, Sakkari faces Badosa and Sabalenka has to look for her first win against Swiatek. The top two from each group advance to the semi-finals.
