Raja Casablanca, the current number two in the Moroccan league, fired coach Lassaâd Jarda Chebbi on Tuesday. According to various African media, the club has reached an agreement with Marc Wilmots to succeed him.
It will be Wilmots’ third club as a trainer. He was briefly at the helm of Schalke in 2003 and then one season at Sint-Truiden. He then worked for the Belgian federation for seven years: three years as an assistant coach and four years as a national coach. He led the Red Devils to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil (where they reached the quarter-finals) and the 2016 European Championship in France. There was lost to Wales in the quarter-finals, after which he was fired. He tried as national coach of Ivory Coast (2017) and Iran (2019), but without success.
