The brand new appointment of club icon Xavi as new coach did not result in a victory for Barcelona on Saturday afternoon. On the thirteenth day of La Liga, Celta Vigo drew 3-3 after a 0-3 lead halfway through.
With Xavi in the stands in Vigo, Barcelona quickly scored 0-3. Ansu Fati (5.), Sergio Busquets (18.) and Memphis Depay (34.) seemed to put the game in a decisive fold after the first half.
But that was not counted on the return of the home team via Iago Aspas (52. and 90.+6) and Nolito (74.). The Blaugrana cannot win for the fourth time in La Liga and are only in a disappointing ninth place with 17 points.
To make matters worse, the Catalans saw their youngsters Ansu Fati (again), Nico Gonzalez and Eric Garcia drop out early.
Espanyol from Dimata wins
Earlier in the day, city rivals Espanyol kept the points at home against Granada after goals from Adria Pedrosa (30.) and Raul de Tomas (42.). Landry Dimata was allowed to relieve Sergi Darder, assister in both the 1-0 and 2-0, three minutes before the end.
On Saturday evening, Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard will go with Real Madrid (24 points) in search of the win against Rayo Vallecano in a Madrid get-together (21h). If the Royal wins, it will jump over Adnan Januzaj’s Real Sociedad to first place.
