The Israeli Maccabi Tel Aviv won its catch-up match of the third matchday in the Conference League on Saturday afternoon 3-2 against the Ukrainian Zorya Luhansk. As a result, the Israeli team comes within a point of leader AA Gent. Due to the war between Israel and Hamas, the match earlier in Tel Aviv could not take place. Now the game was played in Backa Topola, Serbia.

Eran Zahavi and Dor Peretz created an unbridgeable gap. They made it 3-0 for Maccabi Tel Aviv around the hour mark. Eduardo Guerrero and Igor Gorbach brought tension to the match again because of Zorya Luhansk, but a draw was no longer possible. It ended 3-2 in favor of the Israelis.

Due to the war between Israel and the Palestinian organization Hamas, the Israeli teams cannot play their home matches in their own stadium. Maccabi Tel Aviv hosted Zorya Luhansk in the TSC Arena of the Serbian Backa Topola. On Thursday, December 14, AA Gent will also be visiting that location.

In the standings in group B, Maccabi approaches Tel Aviv with 9 out of 12, within one point of group leader Ghent. Zorya Luhansk follows in third place with four units. Next Thursday, Zorya Luhansk will make the move to the Buffalos.
