The World Cup qualifier evening is over and we are taking stock. Germany had a very hard time with Romania. In Hamburg, the Romanians were long ahead, but the Germans won the German style 2-1. Of course Thomas Müller made the winner in the final phase.
In the same group J competitor Armenia drew 1-1 with Iceland. Germany therefore has a lead of no less than 6 points over the rest.
In Group H, Russia beat Slovakia 1-0. The vice world champion Croatia defeated Cyprus 3-0 in the same group. It is exciting, because both Croatia and Russia have 16 points after 7 rounds.
Group E has actually already been decided for the lead. Belgium leads the way with 16 out of 6. The Belgians lost to France in the semi-final of the Nations League on Thursday and did not play a qualification. Estonia did and won 2-0 against Belarus. The ‘competition’ of Belgium, the Czech Republic and Wales, drew in Wales: 2-2. So without playing Belgium was allowed to sit a little more firmly on the highest seat.
