Kirsten Flipkens (WTA 135) was unable to qualify for the second round of the prestigious WTA tournament in Indian Wells, America. Our 35-year-old compatriot bit her teeth in the first round on the French Caroline Garcia (WTA 59). After 2 hours and 15 minutes of play it became 7-5, 4-6 and 0-6. Flipkens had qualified for the main draw through the qualifiers.

Tonight Kim Clijsters (WTA 1476) also comes into action in her first round at Indian Wells. The Limburger will compete against the Czech Katerina Siniakova (WTA 53). Elise Mertens (WTA 18) is the fourteenth seed free in the first round.
