Kim Clijsters opens at Indian Wells against Czech Siniakova

Kim Clijsters (WTA 1476) will face 25-year-old Czech Katerina Siniakova (WTA 53) in the first round of the prestigious Indian Wells tournament.

The 38-year-old Limburger received a wildcard for the $8,150,470 tournament, which she won in 2003 and 2005. Last week, Clijsters played her first game in over a year at the Chicago tournament. She lost in the first round to Taiwanese Su-Wei Hsieh.

With a win, the German Angelique Kerber (WTA 15), the tenth seed, awaits in the second round.

Elise Mertens (WTA 18) is the fourteenth seed in California. She is free in the first round and will play in her first match against a qualifier. It may be Kirsten Flipkens (WTA 132). He qualified for the second and final qualifying round on Monday.
