Historic win for Philippines at Women’s World Cup, no goals in game between Norway and Switzerland

The Philippines won a historic victory against New Zealand (1-0) on Tuesday at the Women’s World Cup on the second day of play in group A, together with Australia the host country. Still in group A, Norway and Switzerland did not score (0-0). Colombia defeated South Korea in group H (2-0).

Colombia opened the debates in Group H on Tuesday with a 2-0 win against South Korea in Sydney. Usme (30.), on penalty, and Caicedo (39.) scored the goals for the South Americans. Germany won its first match in the group on Monday against Morocco (6-0). On the second match day, which follows on Sunday, South Korea and Morocco look each other in the eye and the DFB-Frauen take on Colombia.

Home country New Zealand went down on the second day in group A in Wellington with the smallest difference (1-0) against the Philippines. New Zealand surprised Norway (1-0) on the first day of play, Switzerland beat the Philippines (2-0). So it remains extremely exciting in group A, where the cards still have to be shuffled. The Swiss women lead the score with four points, ahead of New Zealand and the Philippines (3 points each). Norway (1 point) closes the row. On Sunday on the third day, Norway will play against the Philippines and New Zealand will face Switzerland.
