The start of the first division for women brought clear victories for Kangaroos Mechelen, Castors Braine and Phantoms Boom.

Kangaroos Mechelen, the new Mechelen top project after the merger with Sint-Katelijne-Waver, opened in Top Division Women with a bang. The team of coach Arvid Diels triumphed in the Winketkaai in Mechelen with a clear victory against champion Namur Capitale. Player of the Year Billie Massey (11 points, 10 rebounds) with a double double, Serbian Ivana Katanic (20 points) and Laure Resimont (34 points, 6 out of 9 three-pointers) guided Kangaroos after a 56-38 bonus halfway to a nice 92-70 win.
Castors Braine had no problems with Kortrijk Spurs. American Jessica Lindstrom propelled Castors to 83-49 with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Led by Jolien Goyvaerts (18 points) and American Shenita Landry (13 points, 10 rebounds), Phantoms Boom triumphed 73-98 in Lummen. The trio Emma Vindevogel (16 points, 7 rebounds), Nastja Claessens (13 points, 6 rebounds) and Nina Marcou (17 points) won with Waregem 72-76 on the road in Sparta Laarne.
The first day of play will bring one more game today (3 pm) with Liège Panthers versus Pepinster.
