Kimberley Zimmermann and the New Zealander Erin Routliffe qualified for the final of the doubles at the WTA tournament in Luxembourg on Friday. Zimmermann and Routliffe defeated the Russians Vitalia Diatchenko and Yana Sizikova in the semifinals in two sets: 6-4 and 6-2.
The party lasted 1 hour and 12 minutes. Zimmermann and Routliffe may face Greet Minnen and Alison Van Uytvanck in the final. Then the Belgian tandem will have to pass the Japanese pair Eri Hozumi/Makoto Ninomiya, the third seed, in the semifinals later on Friday. Minnen and Van Uytvanck won the doubles tournament in Luxembourg in 2018.
The 25-year-old Zimmermann, the number 113 in the world in doubles, won her first overall victory at a WTA tournament in Palermo last summer alongside Erin Routliffe. In the ITF Tour she has seventeen overall victories in doubles and two in singles.
