The Italian volleyball women conquered the European title in Belgrade on Saturday. Italy defeated Serbia in the final 1-3 (26-24, 22-25, 19-25 and 11-25).
It is Italy’s third European title. The Southern European country has been crowned European champion twice in the past (2007 and 2009). The Serbian women, still good for bronze at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, have previously won European gold three times and were two-time defending champions (2017 and 2019). Before that, they also took the overall victory in 2011.
Turkey won the bronze medal in the small final on Saturday in the Serbian capital. The Turkish women defeated the Netherlands 3-0 (25-20, 25-19 and 25-23).
The Yellow Tigers lost in the eighth finals of the European Championship against Italy.
