Antwerp Giants, semi-finalist last season in the play-offs of our highest basketball division, will participate in the group stage of the FIBA ​​Europe Cup next season. FIBA Europe, the European basketball federation, announced this on Monday.

Last year the Antwerp players played in the EuroCup, the little brother of the prestigious EuroLeague. They finished in sixth and last place in Group C with a balance of one win and nine losses.

In addition to 14 directly qualified teams, the European Cup also includes four clubs that progress from the preliminary rounds and 14 teams that are fished from the Champions League qualifiers. The draw will take place on August 19 in Freising, Germany.

Both Ostend and Bergen are taking their chances in the Champions League. Ostend took a direct ticket, while Bergen has to struggle through three qualifying rounds.
