Kevin Love will not be fit in time for the upcoming Olympic Games (July 23 – August 8) in Tokyo. The American basketball player announced on Friday that he has not recovered sufficiently from a calf injury.
“I’m very disappointed that I can’t go to Tokyo with Team USA, but I’m simply not in top shape,” Love said in a press release.
Kevin Love’s roster was somewhat surprising as he had one of his worst seasons ever at his club Cleveland Cavaliers.
Love is the second player to cancel within 24 hours. Earlier, Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards) also had to make a cross about his Olympic adventure. It is not yet known who will replace Love and Beal in the roster.
