Volta Limburg Classic in trouble due to severe weather: 50% of the course is under water

It is uncertain whether the Volta Limburg Classic, a cycling race through South Limburg, can continue on Sunday. Race director Roy Packbier fears that 40 to 50 percent of the course is currently under water. The organization will hold consultations with various parties on Thursday and will decide by Friday morning whether the cycling race can continue.

“In the first instance, our condolences go out to the region, especially to our volunteers and employees who are now in real trouble,” says Packbier. “We have been taken by surprise by the disaster that is currently unfolding. The question is whether we can cycle at all.”

The tour is scheduled for Saturday, for which 1500 cyclists have registered. Sunday is the Volta Limburg Classic for men (175 participants) and women (150).
