Racing Genk drew 1-1 against the Dutch AZ Alkmaar in a friendly match on Wednesday. The match took place behind closed doors in the Luminus Arena.
Cyriel Dessers opened the scoring for the cup winner after 78 minutes. The victory seemed within reach, but Thijs Oosting was able to equalize for AZ in the final minute. For the Limburgers, last season’s vice champion and cup winner, the match against the club from Alkmaar, the number three of the past season in the Eredivisie, was the last preparation for the Supercup, on Saturday on the field of champion Club Brugge.
Earlier this preparation, Genk won practice matches against amateur club Termien (1-8) and Eupen (2-0). Last Saturday, 1-1 was drawn against the Dutch Groningen.
