Marcelo Salles is back at Mengão. After two years away from the club, “Beast” will be part of Flamengo’s permanent commission, alongside Maurício Souza. The information is from youtuber Guilherme, from the ‘FLAZOEIRO’ channel.
“Beast” started his career at Flamengo in mid-2000. He was Joel Santana’s assistant coach in 2005. He was part of Andrade’s commission in 2009 and won the title of the Brazilian Championship that year, being part of that historic group. In 2010, Salles left Flamengo and worked for teams such as Brasiliense, Cruzeiro, Bahia, Nova Iguaçu and Vasco. He returned to Mengão in 2019, as an assistant, and commanded the main red-black team right after Abel Braga’s resignation. “Beast” was the last to train Mais Querido before the arrival of Portuguese Jorge Jesus.

Now, Marcelo Salles returns to Flamengo at an extremely different time from what he left in 2019. The club has won important titles recently and the fans demand the same success from the cast as the last two years. Renato Gaúcho is Mengão’s new coach and will make his debut next Wednesday, for the Libertadores round of 16.
