Elise Mertens has won the doubles for the third time in her career at the WTA 1,000 tournament in Indian Wells, America (hard/9,258,080 dollars).

Alongside her Taiwanese partner Hsieh Su-Wei, with whom she formed the first seed, she defeated the Australian Storm Hunter and the Czech Katerina Siniakova (the third seed) in the final. The score was 6-3 and 6-4 after an hour and eleven minutes of tennis.

For Mertens, number 1 in the world in doubles, it is the twentieth doubles title on the WTA Tour. She previously won the Indian Wells tournament, also called the “fifth Grand Slam tournament”, in 2019 (with Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka) and 2021 (with Hsieh). At the beginning of this year, Mertens and Hsieh already won the Australian Open.

On Wednesday, Elise Mertens (WTA 28) lost in the eighth finals of the singles 6-0 and 6-2 against the American Coco Gauff (WTA 3), the third seed.
