Away from the field since November 2020, midfielder Thiago Maia can finally return to the field this Wednesday (23) with the shirt of Flamengo.
The athlete has been away for six months after an injury sustained in his left knee that led to surgery. However, Thiago is finally available to coach Rogerio Ceni for the duel against Fortaleza, at Maracanã.

In a video published by Flamengo, the athlete said that the impact of the injury was quite strong and that he even thought about leaving football even though he was only 24 years old.
“When I got injured, I thought it was all over, that my dream was gone. I thought about giving up, it wasn’t easy, but I got over it. Today I thank God for giving me the opportunity”.
“I’m strong, I’m happy, getting back to doing what I love the most. People ask me how I got back before. Faith in God defines me. Being with my family defines me and wearing the mantle representing you defines me. Race, love and passion, that defines me”, he concluded.
The expectation is that Thiago Maia will regain space in the starting lineup and be tested as an immediate replacement for Gerson, definitively negotiated by Flamengo with Olimpique de Marseille.
