Jonny Clayton stammers words of thanks after Premier League win: ‘Work again on Monday’

Jonny Clayton does not yet fully realize what he has achieved in one fell swoop. World fame, a beautiful cup and the title Premier League of Darts 2021. “Can you say that again? It is really unbelievable, but on Monday I will just go back to work”, The Ferret said in front of the Skysports microphone.

Clayton had invited everyone to attend the Premier League playoffs. From his rugby team to his whole family. They saw the Welshman first defeat Michael van Gerwen and then crush José de Sousa. “It’s great to have everyone here. It gives me extra strength,” said Clayton, clearly moved.

Lazy trainer
The 46-year-old darts player has now become an inspiration for young budding darts players. “Yes, that is weird. I love this game so much and I can now share this with them. I have to be honest, I am just a lazy trainer. Here in the game I am in my element and I give everything”, said Clayton, who also thanked all nurses for all their concerns in the fight against the corona virus.

Emotional
“Normally I’m not that emotional, but this does affect me”, Clayton said a little later on RTL7. “It’s my dream come true, I couldn’t be more proud with this trophy.”
