National coach Philip Mestdagh reduced the preselection of the Belgian Cats to a selection of sixteen players. Next week they will participate in the international tournament in Kortrijk. Ultimately, twelve compatriots will soon go to the European Championship and the Games in Tokyo.

The Belgian Cats have now started preparing for an important summer with next to the European Championship (17-28 June, Strasbourg / France-Valencia / Spain) also the Olympic Games (23 July-8 August) in Tokyo / Japan. The next week the international tournament (with Serbia, Nigeria and Puerto Rico) is scheduled in Kortrijk and next week the Cats will travel to Cordoba, Spain, where two exhibition games will also be played. National coach Philip Mestdagh eventually chooses 12 players from this group of 16 to initially play the European Championship in June. The Belgian Cats, who conquered bronze in 2017 and finished fifth in 2019, leave with ambition for a third consecutive Eurobasket and aspire a new place on the podium.
