GOLD FOOTWEAR: HOW DOES THE SCORE WORK?

The scoring criteria seek to balance the level of each of the European leagues, with each goal being assigned a ‘weight’ that will be calculated (multiplied) next to the score. The goals scored in the international capeonatos do not count points in the dispute. Thus:

  • In the German Bundesliga, Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A, English Premier League and French Ligue 1, each goal is equivalent to 2 points;
  • In the leagues of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Portugal, Croatia, Scotland, Greece, Netherlands, Israel, Norway, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey, Belarus and Ukraine, each goal adds up to 1.5 points;
  • In the leagues of Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia, Cyprus, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Wales, Hungary, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Sweden, each goal is worth 1 point.

Thanks to the victories between 2018 and 2019, Messi ‘fired’ at the historic leadership of the Golden Boot, winning the award in six different seasons for Barcelona. He opened an advantage over Cristiano Ronaldo (4), who had won for the last time in 2014/15, still for Real Madrid.

Among players with at least two cleats, there are also names like Eusébio (Benfica), Gerd Müller (Bayern Munich), Jardel (FC Porto and Sporting Lisboa), Thierry Henry (Arsenal) and Luis Suárez (Liverpool and Ajax). Great scorers of the past, like Ronaldo Nazário (Barça, in 1996/97), Francesco Totti (Roma, in 2006/07) and Roy Makaay (Deportivo La Coruña, in 2002/03) also left their name in the dispute.
