Rafael Nadal qualified for the semi-finals of the Masters 1,000 tournament in Rome, Italy on Friday. The number three in the world defeated the German Alexander Zverev (ATP 6) 6-3 and 6-4.
Nadal has his revenge for the ATP tournament in Madrid, Spain, where Zverev eliminated him in the quarterfinals last week. In the semifinals, Nadal takes on the surprising American Reilly Opelka (ATP 47). He got rid of the Argentinian Federico Delbonis (ATP 64) earlier in the day, who eliminated David Goffin (ATP 13) in the second round, 7-5 and 7-6 (7/2). Later in the day, the two remaining quarter-finals are scheduled with Djokovic-Tsitsipas and Sonego-Rublev. The winners of those duels compete in the other semifinal. (belga)
