Heavy sanctions for Olympiakos after fireworks incident in which player was injured

Furthermore, Olympiacos must play two matches behind closed doors and pay a fine of 38,000 euros. Olympiakos has already announced that it will appeal against the sanctions.

Last Sunday in Piraeus, fireworks were thrown at Juankar of Panathinaikos in the 50th minute when the score was 1-1. The Spanish defender was warming up to come on as a substitute in the match between the Athenian rivals. The injured Juankar was taken to hospital and the Panathinaikos players left the field. After two hours of waiting, the match was stopped.
