All about the Campeonato Paulista 2021 Championship: start date of the competition, clubs, groups, formula, prizes and where to watch
The FPF (São Paulo Federation of Football) released the dates and times of the first five games of each team in Paulistão 2021. Current champion, Palmeiras had the confrontation of the initial round postponed, so it will debut only on March 03 against Corinthians in an exciting Derby. Timão, together with São Paulo and Santos, starts playing the State game before, on February 28th.
Palmeiras will have two classics within the first five rounds, however, due to the final of the Copa do Brasil against Grêmio, on the 28th of this month and March 7, they had a tight schedule. The game of Verdão in the first round, against São Caetano, was transferred to March 11.

When does Paulistão 2021 start?
CBF’s 2021 calendar begins with the State Championships, scheduled for February 28, just four days after the last round of the 2020 season. as a limit for the end of competitions.

What is the dispute formula of the 2021 Paulista Championship?
The format of Paulistão 2021 will be the same as that of 2020, with 16 clubs divided into four groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the knockout stage – it should be noted that teams from the same group do not play each other in the first stage. The competition’s quarterfinals and semifinals also continue to be played in single games, while two matches decide the grand final.
The novelty is the presence of the VAR in all matches, including the group stage, with the expenses borne by the FPF – in 2020, there was a video referee only in the playoff.
